The world of Collado, lately.

I am having a hard time posting continually. I think I need to carve out a couple minutes each day and update! Anyway, we've had alot going in our house lately; Logan has completely potty-trained himself, we've booked our tickets to Missouri, Michael is putting in for the position of Engineer and we've been working on our faith.
First, Logan has done so great! He just tells ya if he has to go and we go.
Second, we're going on a mini-vacation this month to Missouri. We're visiting Beau, Lauren and Kenna for a few days and going to a Brad Paisely concert featuring Dierks Bentley and Darius Rucker!!! Yay! It's going to be so much fun, but I really can't wait to see the girls! Lauren and I plan on a spa day and we're planning a couple of nights to go out and eat. Logan will be staying with my mom and I know she will take excellent care of him. I've just never spent more than one night away:( I'm trying not to think about it at the moment. Thirdly, Michael put in for a promotion and he won't really admit it, but I think he's quite nervouse about the whole thing. He's confident of his abilities, but still worried nonetheless. I pray that he'll be calmed about the situation and keep a cool head.
And last, but definitely most important, I've been on somewhat of a spiritual journey. I'm diving into studying my Bible and understanding God's will for my life. I'm finding alot of things that are almost hard to digest, but at the same time, I SO want to obey Him. I've joined quite a few groups on Cafemom to help me learn more about being a Godly, Christian woman and they're helping things become clearer. It's almost like I've become a conservative Christian overnight, but I feel a deep conviction to change my ways and change them NOW. I want to please God; more than I want to do anything else. I'm working on changing my wardrobe to a more modest one and I'm still struggling with 1 Corinthians 11:2-16. I've made a (very beginner) head band as a way of covering until I can feel at peace with the decision. I am also becoming the submissive wife that the Lord orders me to be; this being almost the hardest part! Michael is dealing with the 'new' me very well, even though I think it scares him that his wife has change overnight. I'm praying that he will be filled with the Holy Spirit and come to Jesus as the head of our household. It's hard for us to adjust to this new way of life, as a family. My eyes are now opened to the world and I don't quite think his are. But, I trust God and that He will make our path clear.
Some other things that have been going on: I am learning to sew. Tada! lol, so far I've made an apron and 1/2 a skirt. It's a little harder than I realized, so I think sewing classes are in order. I got my new sewing machine for Christmas and I'm so eager to put it to expert use; but, alas, it's only seen beginner fumbling. Times like this make me want Nana next door so she can school me with what I need to know. Also, our neighbor's house caught on fire the other day! It was horrible! Michael called right around 8 am (I had just gotten home from taking him to work at 7:15a) and asked me if everything was alright; were we OK? He usually calls if he hears of an SUV wreck over the scanner, so I told him, yes, and asked what the matter was. He said there was a house near us that was on fire and he wanted to make sure it wasn't us. Well, when he usually says 'near us' he means within a couple of miles. I asked him where and he read off the address...it's across the street! I immediately ran outside to see which house it was and saw thick smoke coming out of the roof of this home. Well, Michael also said that someone had kicked in the door to check about anyone being home, and as soon as I saw the smoke, I panicked. I saw some neighbors outside and yelled to ask about the man who ran in and thankfully, he was one of the neighbors standing there! Then Logan starts crying saying, "Smoke stinks!", so I took him back to our house and waited for the fire department to get here. As I was watching, the entire roof just burst in flames and it almost resembled an ice cream cone when it melts; everything was starting to disappear before my eyes. The firefighter from up the street pulled up next to our house and got his gear on, then the guys from Oak Grove pulled up and got the hoses connected. As soon as they were finished, the rest of the trucks pulled in and they went in the house and got it put out after about 15-20 minutes (which doesn't sound like alot, until you're counting seconds!). Things calmed down quite a bit after that and they were in there checking the ceilings and furniture. Then a small flame started on the corner of the house and they had to open the hoses up one more time! When all was said and done, they said it started in the attic; the condenser unit fan had locked up and wasn't blowing cool air on the motor, which in turn made the motor get hotter and hotter until it finally caught fire. Because of the insulation in the attic, the fire went fast at first and then slowed down (thank goodness for treated wood!). God was watching over their family that day; the wife is, alot of times, home in bed at that time and the fire was directly over the upstairs bedrooms. Thankfully her and her husband were at work while their young son was at school. It was so overwhelming to watch someone's home just burn. In the end though, everyone was safe including the family dog, rabbit and two cats. The home is salvagable since it only burned from the attic up; although there is alot of smoke damage throughout the home and water damage, as well. Their insurance company has been on the ball with getting people out here and getting the damaged stuff out, and ready for construction. Logan was/is very aware of the situation. When it was burning, he stayed on the front porch the entire time (with his fire trucks and ambulances:) and watched. When the trucks were leaving, they all turned on the lights and sirens for him (they all knew we lived across the street), which he loved. For the past 3 days, he's been asking me about the 'house that broke' and telling me that 'it had a fire' and that 'they're gonna fix it tomorrow'. For the first day, he was asking about the puppy being OK and all of us being OK; not getting burnt. I explained that no one is going to be burnt or hurt, so he let that go, but he's still very much worried about their broken house! He's explained it to everyone we've been around; even the lady at Jersey Mike's! I didn't realize how much he worries, even being so small yet.
This is why I really need to post more often; I end up writing a novel every week! lol, until next time...
Blessings
